This tie rack fits my ClosetMaid 12" shelf installed about 6 years ago perfectly. I was not sure if the hang rod would get in the way, but they thought of this when they designed the front bracket. Unpacking the parts, screwing a piece to the front, snapping another piece over the back, and hooking it to the underside of the shelf took about 3 minutes. I wasn't too thrilled that the unit was listing to one side, but when I hung it full of ties it righted itself. An oval handle lets you pull the bar with 12 hooks on each side forward.

I don't think you can get this to hang from a ClosetMaid 'close mesh' shelf, because the front bracket that hooks between wires (5/8") is wider than the close mesh spacing.

All in all it does an nice job of organizing ties. 5 stars for design. 3 stars for fit. After all, there is only so much precision you can get from mass produced steel stamping and formed wire, coated in thick white paint. But for the price, you really can't... Read more

Well constructed, not the least bit wimpy. I am hanging the jewelry I make on three of them in my beading closet. I just might have to purchase a few more!
Highly recommend these for ties, belts, dog leashes, jewelry...anything that hangs. Really maximize the space they take and the work great.
